Please find a construction update from Grandlinq below regarding work on King West between Moore and Victoria South:
Starting on June 8, work will begin on King from Moore to Victoria to build the King Street Grade Separation. For this work, King West between Moore and Victoria South will be fully closed for up to 18 months. Initial activities include track reconfiguration at the Go Transit Layover Facility near Park and relocation of the existing track on King West.
Beginning mid to late June, while we reconfigure the track at the Go Transit Layover Facility, Park will be closed for approximately three (3) weeks at the existing CN/ Go Transit railway track.
Concurrently, GrandLinq will begin to relocate the existing CN railway tracks that cross King just northwest of Victoria. Although King West will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic from Moore to Victoria South starting in mid-June, local traffic and local access for emergency services, businesses and residences will be maintained from Moore to Wellington North. The track will remain at the existing grade for this relocation.
In early fall, we expect work on King West to extend from Moore to Wellington North to accommodate the relocation and upgrading of underground utilities (i.e., water, sanitary and storm). This work will take approximately seven months. Major activities include removing, relocating and upgrading existing utilities, removal of trees, cutting with saws and removal of asphalt, excavation and backfilling of soil, installation of new utilities, asphalt restoration and installation of retaining walls.
