Please find a construction update below regarding work on King from Union to Wellington:
- Work continues on King, from Union to Wellington, to accommodate the relocation and upgrading of underground utilities (i.e. water, storm and sanitary). Work to relocate the underground utilities on King from Union to Green is nearly complete
- Access to and from King at the following intersections is limited to emergency services, hospital patients, students, local residents and businesses only: Union, Mount Hope, Pine, Green, Agnes, Louisa, Wellington, Moore and Victoria South
- Road reconstruction on King, from Union to Green, has started with the installation of curbs and asphalt
- From September 14 to November 27, Kitchener Wilmot Hydro will be relocating their existing pole line on King, from Union to Green. During this time, two-way traffic will be maintained with the help of flaggers.
- In late-September, some areas of King will be ready for construction of the new LRT track, and work to build the rest of the ION infrastructure (i.e. final sidewalks, poles and the overhead catenary system that power the train) To prepare for this work, ION track will be delivered to King as early as September 16. The track will arrive in 24 metre lengths, which will then be welded into 170 metre lengths for installation
- Work also continues to build the retaining walls along King. Work in front of KCI is now underway
Drivers are encouraged to pay extra attention for pedestrians in this area. Stop signs and construction signage is in place throughout the work zone
