The following is an ION construction update:
- Some areas of King are ready for the next phase of ION construction, including installation of the new LRT track, and work to build the rest of the ION infrastructure (i.e., final sidewalks, poles and the overhead catenary system that will power the train)
- Work to upgrade and relocate underground utilities from Green to Louisa is complete
- Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro has completed their work from Union to Green; GrandLinq crews can now continue the installation of the road base and curbs on King, between Union and Louisa. Once this is complete, crews will begin laying the asphalt on the eastside of King, in this section
- In the next two weeks, crews will begin sidewalk installation
- Work to install underground utilities (i.e., traffic signal conduits) from Union to Green will continue until on or about November 25
- Intersection closures: Mount Hope/King closed on November 20 for approximately one day. Two-way traffic on King is being maintained through the use of flaggers for the duration of this closure. At the end of each day, the road will re-open to two-way traffic
Drivers are encouraged to pay extra attention for pedestrians in this area. Stop signs and pedestrian signage is in place throughout the work zone
