Getting Around

  • King/William is closed until the end of day November 30
  • King, from Union to just south of William, is open to two-way traffic on base asphalt with sidewalks established
  • Short-term lane closures may be required to complete work in the area

On-going Construction

  • Installation of the overhead catenary system that powers the train
  • Building the Allen ION stop

King, Union to Wellington, in Kitchener/Waterloo

Getting Around

  • King, from Union to the U-turn at Wellington, is open to two-way traffic. Work in the area will continue, with intermittent lane closures
  • King/Wellington is closed until approximately late-December

On-going Construction

  • Work to finalize landscaping
  • Installation of the overhead catenary system that powers the train
  • Building the Grand River Hospital ION stop
  • Upgrading and relocation of underground utilities (i.e. water, storm and sanitary) in the King/Wellington intersection

Night Work 

  • Crews are working at night (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) on King, from Union to Wellington, until approximately December 22

King Street Grade Separation, in Kitchener 

Getting Around 

  • King/Wellington is closed until approximately late-December
  • King, from Victoria to Moore (including the King/Moore intersection), is closed for construction of the King Street Grade Separation until approximately spring 2017
  • Fencing across the railway tracks (at King and Waterloo Streets) was installed in 2015 to close the area to pedestrians and cyclists
  • The sidewalks on the south side of Breithaupt and the east side of Waterloo are open

On-going Construction

  • Installation of underground electrical and communication conduits on Breithaupt, from King to Waterloo, and on Waterloo, south of Breithaupt
  • Upgrading and relocation of underground utilities (i.e. water, storm and sanitary) and installation of the communication duct bank from the newly constructed bridge to Victoria, and from Moore to Wellington
  • Third party utility work (i.e. Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro) at the newly constructed bridge and on Waterloo
  • Work on the northbound Central Station-Innovation District ION stop as well as the King Street Grade Separation
