Happy Summer Raiders!

I hope that everyone has enjoyed a great start to a fun filled summer and that you look forward to arriving at KCI in September. Included with this letter you will find:
Schedule for September 5 (see below) – Grade 9 students will enjoy a half day of orientation and activities beginning at 8:45 am. This will include a Welcome Barbecue at 11:00 am.

All students (Grade 9 thru 12) will report to their Block A class at 11:45 am and will follow an alternative timetable for the afternoon. You will receive your Opening Day Package and your timetable at this time.

The Opening Day Package will include:
• Data Verification Form (DVF) – All sections of the DVF should be reviewed and updated if necessary, signed by a parent/guardian and returned on SEPTEMBER 6 to the Block A Teacher
• Medical Letter – All Medical Forms should be reviewed and updated if necessary, signed by a parent/guardian and returned on SEPTEMBER 6 to the Block A Teacher.
• Notification and Permission for the Use of Student Personal Information IS-09-L-S –School Day Letter – Please read, sign and return the completed IS-09-L-S on SEPTEMBER 6.

Other important information:

Transportation – Students can check their transportation eligibility by going to www.stswr.ca and clicking on Transportation Eligibility. It is recommended that eligible students verify the details as stop locations and times may have changed. Transportation details can be retrieved by visiting www.stswr.ca and clicking on Student Login. Ontario Education Numbers are needed in order to log in and access transportation details.
Will You Move Over the Summer? – All address changes need to be made through the school. Please make the necessary corrections to the Data Verification Form (be sure to sign it) and return on September 6th.
Not Returning to KCI? – Please let us know as soon as possible if do not intend to return to KCI in September. Contact the guidance office at 519-745-6851 ext. 5520.
Where To Find Information – Subscribe to the KCI School Website to receive important information. As well there is a button on the website titled “KCI Parents”. Please check it for updates. Register now for SCHOOL DAY at www. school-day.com to receive email notifications of important KCI news.
Grade 9 & 10 Chromebook Project – The WRDSB’s 1:1 Chromebook project aims to place a Chromebook device in the hands of each registered grade 9 & 10 student at KCI. Grade 9s will receive their Chromebook during Block E on September 5th and are to bring it home in its original packaging. An information letter and Chromebook 1:1 Acknowledgement Form will be sent regarding care and expectations around its use. The form should be returned September 6th with student and parent signature. The Chromebook should be charged each night by students at home, be brought to each class each day, and will stay with each student for their entire WRDSB high school career.
KCI School Council – KCI welcomes all parents to join the School Council – an opportunity to collaborate with KCI Admin, discuss parent issues and to learn more about all the great things happening at KCI. Our first meeting is scheduled September 25 at 7 pm.

A complete package of information for parents and guardians will be provided to students on September 5 in their Block A class.There are a few important dates to mark on your calendars now:

-Grade 9 Student and Parent Welcome Night September 19 @ 6:30 pm
-Blitz Week September 11 to 15
-Photo Day September 15
-School Council September 25 @ 7:00 pm
