January 23rd, 2018
The Semester I January 2018 Exam Schedule and Information Sheet are linked below for students and parents access. Please review both documents thoroughly as they provide details as to when, where, and how exams are handled here at KCI.
NEW EXAM SCHEDULE FORMAT
This year our exam schedule has changed so that students only write one exam per day. We hope this change provides better conditions for our students to demonstrate and consolidate their learning than the previous approach of multiple exams per day and conflicts requiring alternate writing times. The new schedule follows a student’s class timetable from Day 1 (Friday, Jan 26 – Period A class exam) to Day 5 (February 1st – period E class exam) and in most cases students will write their exam in the same room they attended for their class. Students are reminded that different classes may not be writing identical versions of their class exams but that the overall curriculum expectations (Big Ideas of the course) assessed will be the same for every section. Students with Individual Education Plans will speak with their classroom teacher who will arrange with Learning Services (RM 142) appropriate accommodations that are being put in place. As always, if students do not have an exam on a given day they are not expected to attend the building unless they have other assignments to complete or to meet with a teacher.
Please note also that all exams now start at 9:00 AM and that buses are still on their regular schedule. This provides time for students to still arrive at school by 8:20 AM but with extra built in time to return texts, go to lockers and arrive in good time to their rooms and to make their final preparations for their exams.
The library and cafeteria will be open daily as will our Student Success room (310) for students needing to finish up outstanding work or receive study assistance.
We hope that these changes provide the best conditions for students to be more focused, less stressed, and successful in their final evaluations!
