We would like to thank our partners at Waterloo Regional Police Service for their swift action and apprehension of the suspect in the case of a threat made against the Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School community. We can confirm that the suspect in this case is a current Waterloo Region District School Board student.

As many students, parents and guardians are aware, over these last few weeks, several threats have been made against a number of schools within the region. These threats have been used to inspire a feeling of unease and worry for our students, staff and parent community. We will continue to work to ensure that those responsible for these threats  know there are significant consequences to these choices and actions. As always, these types of situations will be fully investigated and disciplinary action will be taken as appropriate. Consequences, on the part of the school board, could include suspension and or expulsion.

Our students and staff have the right to learn and work in a safe environment without fear. We are grateful to Waterloo Regional Police Services for their efforts and support, and are very optimistic that other persons responsible for similar threats towards our other schools will soon be apprehended.
