Changes are coming to how student Google Workspace accounts work with third party applications.

What’s changing?

Effective October 23, 2023: students will not be able to sign into third party apps using their WRDSB Google accounts.

Why is this changing?

Google is implementing this change for student accounts because third-party app settings are an important consideration in protecting the privacy and security of student data.

Potential impact for students

If you have logged in to third party apps with your WRDSB Google Account you will no longer have access to those third party apps after October 23rd.

It’s important be aware that third party apps may include, but are not limited to:

  • Online apps (Canva, Piktochart, Blooket, Screencastify, Bandlab)

  • Social Media apps (Instagram, Facebook)

  • Personal Services apps (Spotify, Pinterest, Uber)

  • Gaming Services
