Every year, the students and teachers of the KCI Music Department host two concerts in the KCI Auditorium, one in the winter and one in the spring. An ossia is an Italian musical term that refers to the option of a less demanding passage of music that a composer has written to create a more readily achievable alternative for the performer than the original arrangement. To this end, our concerts are titled OSSIA as we believe in an environment that makes music achievable for all.
In September 2008, with OSSIA 11: repeat repeat, KCI Music began a collaboration with KCI Arts that transformed its image through the creative innovations of senior design students. All OSSIA marketing materials including posters, tickets, programme covers, and thank you stationery are produced by students in the Graphic Design courses. Graphics students prepare a variety of design concepts and then the Music Council makes its final choice and awards the marketing contract to one of the student designers. Enjoy the graphical journey that the past 20 OSSIA concerts have taken.
