School to Home Communication
The Waterloo Region District School Board is moving to on line communication. The 2014 2015 "School Year Information" package will be available on the KCI website in an effort to reduce costs and save paper. The package will contain information regarding school year start up such as; the school year calendar, safe schools protocol, and other information that may be helpful for a successful year in school. however, paper copies of this information will still be available to those parents who prefer it to be sent home.
A form to request paper copies of the school year start up package will be sent home with the summer mail out. Please complete and return this form to the school if you would prefer to receive a paper copy of the start up package.
Completed forms are to be returned by September 2.

Highlighting Community Partners
KCI enjoys wonderful relationships with many businesses, agencies and community groups. We are pleased to highlight a few friends of KCI and their contributions:
Thank you Canadian Wildlife Foundation (CWF) for your continued support of KCI's greening initiatives. The Canadian Wildlife Federation has been an ongoing partner in the restoration of the natural habitat on the grounds of KCI. Most recently CWF supported the renovation of KCI's sports field with several native trees and shrubs.
Grand River Hospital partnered with KCI this school year to support the visits of six time Olympian Clara Hughes on March 21, 2014, as part of Clara's Big Ride, and author Margaret Trudeau on October 9, 2013.. Both women, who themselves have battled mental health issues, have taken up mental health advocacy and offer encouragement through public engagements.
With the sponsorships received through the Clara's Big Ride event, KCI will be creating a Wellness Atrium in the school. All money raised will go towards educating and providing a safe area for students experiencing, or personally affected by mental health issues. Thank-you to our sponsors of this event:
St. Mark's Lutheran Church - A heartfelt thank-you is extended to the St. Mark's community for hosting a breakfast program for KCI students. While the program was recently moved into the school, KCI appreciates the many years volunteers from St. Mark's supported our student community in this way.
